Qualification: NCEA Level 2
This is a practical General Science course with a vocational focus for students who are wishing to gain Science credits. It would be helpful in meeting entry requirements where Level 2 Science credits are beneficial; for Trade and Polytechnic course e.g. Beauty Therapy, Mechanics, Forestry, Winemaking, or the Armed forces. A selection of possible standards will be presented to match class interest. These can range from how organisms survive in extreme environments, investigating the impact of asteroids hitting earth to caring for nursery crops.
- Develop science skills including data processing, microscopes, collecting field data
- Impact of human behaviour on ecosystems
- Contexts selected based on student interest
- Science knowledge will include biology, earth and space science, horticulture.
