Qualification: NCEA Level 2
The Gateway Programme provides the opportunity for workplace experience and learning, strengthening pathways to further education and training or employment.
Students develop employability skills and explore career pathways, with individualised programmes tailored to suit their needs and interests.
Students best suited to participate in the Gateway Programme will be: motivated to learn in the workplace and work ready; capable of undertaking self-managed learning; reliable, with a good attendance record.
- Sustained work placement, approximately 1 day per week for at least 1 school term.
- Individual Learning Plan to achieve at least 20 Unit Standard credits, focusing on industry based credits and alignment to a Vocational Pathway.
Internal Credits: Students required to complete at least 20 Unit Standard credits.
Entry Recommendations: Interview
Students need to be work ready, and capable of independent learning.
Gateway can be selected as a timetabled subject, or to provide work experience alongside an academic programme, completing Gateway outside of the timetable.
Gateway can be selected in with Secondary Tertiary Pathways courses and/or Vocational Pathways.
